Daily Operations
- Refill sumps and dose minerals as required
- Complete regularly scheduled cleaning tasks
- Perform inventory counts
Tank Maintenance
- Conduct daily algae scrubbing and sponge cleaning
- Perform display tank water changes and ongoing maintenance
Fish Care Support
- Follow and observe all biosecurity protocols
- Monitor fish health and report any signs of disease to senior team members
- Assist with fish receiving and acclimation
Customer Service
- Welcome customers and help maintain a friendly, hospitable atmosphere
- Provide guidance and advice on aquarium keeping
- Recognize limits of knowledge, communicate transparently with customers, and seek support from senior team members when needed
- Bag fish and plants and complete transactions at the register when front-of-house staff are busy
Additional Responsibilities
- Support the team with larger maintenance or organizational projects
- Act as a self-starter by anticipating store needs and proactively completing relevant tasks
- Communicate with management regarding suggestions for continuous improvement of processes, workflows, and policies
- Train new hires on daily store tasks and provide feedback and guidance
- Perform other duties as assigned
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $40,000–$50,000 per year (commensurate with experience) Reviewed after 3 months.
